"ASAPAULINIAN" Show What You Got!

"Now, ON with the SHOW!"

After all the preparations and practices that we had, now it’s the time for our TALENT SHOW! This is going to be an excitement [and maybe a bit nervous] activity. We will all be showing our talents or our hidden talents. There would be singing, dancing (or both), and playing instruments. The program which entitled “ASAPAULINIAN” was held in Viewing Room. After the prayer, we immediately got into the show and the hosts introduce us the pairs of TWEETUMS who will be singing love songs. They sang really well and I felt that we were doing a karaoke thing. The next one to perform was the Kanto Boys vs. the It Girls. We were having fun because their moves really fit into the chosen music. The Bakasyonistas were really good! They played like they were performing in some real talent show on television. Also, the one who was singing has a powerful voice and I felt that she sung through her heart! Those who were playing guitars, I really admired them (especially the girls) because I for one wanted to learn to play that instrument. Then, the ASAP Champions sang their chosen (I think) piece. Some of our classmates were whistling because one of the pairing in Tweetums was also there. Also, the one who sung was there, she sings Adelle’s song. I thought to myself that “Oh, I didn’t know that Adelle was here.” Our Chinese student sung a song which I think was a love song too. After all the singing, the next one was dancing and I felt a tinge of nervousness. The first one to dance was the HRM students. I was really surprised because I didn’t know that they actually dance like that because they were really awesome especially the moves although some of them was not in synch. The next one, here it comes, our group, the K-POP group J (I know I'm not a K-Pop but I'm doing this time only). At first, we were totally nervous but then at the middle of our dance, we could not hear the music because they were shouting and all. I too was not able to do my moves because I didn’t know if I was in the right rhythm. Before that we were all thinking that maybe they would not watch anymore because we were the second to the last to perform since they would lose their all energy to watch us. But I was really glad that they enjoyed our dancing. The last but not the least was my other friends’ group. They did really well because in the beginning, you would feel the energy they have. I' really happy to hear that they were giving me compliments because they NEVER thought that I would be performing like that. Also, my co-members said that I did great because at the middle of our practice they told me that I should do this and that. But I'm more thankful for my friends because they taught us that choreography and without it, we couldn't do all those moves. I also like to thank God for giving me some courage to make what I've done in our talent show and for the talent I have! I think my confidence has gone to a next level. I  thank this subject, Personality Development, because it really helped a lot in making ME, in learning things you couldn't get from others, and of course to our awesome professor MRS. PAMELA GO, thank you! Arigatou and Sayonara <3 I had FUN in this great subject!

BRAND IMAGE :)

"How would you MARKET yourself?"

We were asked by our professor in the beginning of our lesson, Image Building, "How would you market yourself?" My answer in this question was in my written exam in which our professor asked us to do for our finals. But I would explain first what our professor told us about the lesson we had. The topic talked a lot about the professional image that you should be projecting. As what Ms. Pam told us that the professional image is a set of qualities and characteristics that represent perceptions of your competence and character as judged by your key constituents. There were things that you should know if you were projecting professional image. This image consists of the following: PERSONAL APPEARANCE and BEHAVIOR. Remember: Judgements are made about people based on the professional image they display as a result of appearance and behavior. You should also take note of your manners and etiquettes because it would help you in the long run. In this topic, we learned also how to dress properly for our work or how we should look like and the dos and don’ts. We should keep in our mind that other people’s impression on you MATTERS.

Here is the picture where the questions and my answers in our written final exam:

Doing Resume!

"It starts with RESUME!"

There are things that we consider in making a resume. By the way, what is resume? According to what I've researched, it is a document used by persons to present their backgrounds and skills. Résumés can be used for a variety of reasons, but most often they are used to secure new employment. I also learned the different types of resumes from our professor. These are the following: CHRONOLOGICAL, FUNCTIONAL, and COMBINATION RESUMES.

Chronological Resume

The chronological resume lists your job titles starting with your current or most recent employment and then goes back timewise. This format is good for demonstrating growth in a single profession. It may not be suitable for those just out of school or for those changing careers.

Example: http://www.eduers.com/resume/Chronological_Resume_Example.htm

Functional Resume

The functional resume focuses on professional skills developed during your employment rather than on the when, where and what of each position. It organizes your experience in terms of skills and accomplishments. This resume format is good for career changers, frequent job changers and those with limited experience. It is also good for those who are returning to the workplace after a long absence.

Combination Resume

The combination resume is a combination of both the chronological and the functional format. It demonstrates your skills and experience as themes and then your employment experience follows chronologically. It is recommended for mid-career changers and recent graduates.

This was the one I created for our requirement:

For me, it was not that easy to make a resume because you need to remember the seminars or the things that should be needed in this one. Also, I felt difficulty in putting the skills because I don't know how will I shorten it or how can I state it properly. But I also want to thank my sister because she helped me to what I should put in the resume. I want to thank Miss Pam, because now for sure, we (or I) will be going to make our (my) resume properly. I think now that we learn how to make a resume, we will be waiting for the mock interview that we will have, but we'll talk about it next time [I guess].

"With this look, I'm READY FOR WORK."

There are proper attires in every occasions or events. There are many things that you should know like what casual or formal should look like. Also, you should consider how it fits you. It’s not important if you did or did not follow the trending clothes but you how you dress properly in that event.  For example, you’re going to have an interview and of course you will not think of wearing some casual attire like jeans and shirts. Instead you’re going to wear business/corporate attire. Also, if you have a party to go to, which is formal, you need to wear appropriate clothing for that event.
We had this activity that we should wear and shows to the class were: CASUAL ATTIRE, FORMAL/EVENING ATTIRE, and BUSINESS/CORPORATE ATTIRE. The clothing that our group got was BUSINESS ATTIRE. We talked what will be suited in every attire like what you must wear or not.

Here are pictures that show you what to wear in different types of attires:

SMART CASUAL ATTIRE

BUSINESS/CORPORATE ATTIRE

EVENING ATTIRE

There were also persons (some of the faculty) who will be judging us if there is something that we should improve and give some tips to the different attires. So when it was my time to be criticized, they told me that I should wear plain colored blouse (but without a collar) inside and the rest is okay. In this picture (the one who was wearing gray for the blazer and yellow for the blouse), that was me wearing the business attire:

We took pictures after the class with our professor, Mrs. Pamela Go.

Going CRAZY now.

In this activity, I learned something new and now I know how to properly dressed when we will be having our work or in different gatherings that we should go to. From what I learned to Mrs. Pam, don't forget to DRESS FOR SUCCESS!
